ShareTweet 0 Shipping deadlines are fast approaching. But with overloaded post offices, that window is quickly closing. Let’s make sure the most important things are under the tree this year—Transformers! Here are 11 Transformers gifts that you can still get before the fat man comes next Thursday night. Sunstreaker Simply the best (Image: Hasbro) Because no pile of presents is complete without the best yellow Lamborghini ever under the tree. Sunstreaker was my favorite Transformer back in the 80s, and his Earthrise version is just as good. With a satisfying transformation and design faithful to the G1 toy, this figure is a must-have. Smokescreen (Image: Hasbro) We’ve already gotten Smokescreen once in the War for Cybertron toyline and, while it’s a fine toy, it’s no G1 tribute. This Earthrise version is exactly what you remember Smokescreen being back in the day with a red, blue, and white deco that pops and a rally car alt-mode. If you’re looking to round out your Earthrise squad, it’s a great toy to grab. Astrotrain Whaddya mean a space shuttle doesn’t have guns? (Image: Hasbro) Astrotrain was one of my favorite toys from the previous Siege wave of toys, and thankfully he’s still being shipped as part of Earthrise. This train/space shuttle triple changer is faithful to the G1 toy while elevating that source material to a whole new level. The train mode is quite satisfying and the shuttle even comes with a treaded transport/launch gantry. That same transport turns into a weapons locker for Astrotrain when he’s in bot form (and he’s got a huge load out in the armory). Sky Lynx Sings Taylor Swift’s “Me” without a hint of irony. I’m not a fan of Amazon markups on toys. But when they’re this magnificent, I’ll ease my restrictions a bit. Sky Lynx is selling for a pretty hefty markup right now (his MSRP is $79), but if you have a G1 fan on your Christmas list, they simply have to have this figure. One of the most oddball characters in the original series, this panther/bird/panther-bird/space shuttle/rocket base Transformer also had the distinct personality trait of constantly touting his amazing abilities (and good looks, superior intelligence, etc.). It made him the arrogant bot you loved to roll your eyes at. Luckily, his figure is packed full of play potential with two sections transforming into their own modes and a combined form that’s completely unique in the Transformers universe. Fasttrack If the orange guns are still removable, don’t expect to hold on to them for long. Chances are, most fans already have the biggest Earthrise toy: Scorponok. But his partner, Fasttrack, just came out in the last wave of Earthrise figures. Thankfully, he’s widely available since he not only becomes a wheeled vehicle that resembles the drone character from the original G1 Scorponok toy but also can become his spear when the big guy is in bot mode. (It’s patterned after the accessory that came with Japanese versions of the G1 toy.) Soundbarrier Fallen. Can’t get up. (Image: Hasbro) The great thing about this little guy is that you can’t have too many of them. So no matter if they already have this “lay on my face to become a road” Transformer, they can always use another? Why? Because Soundbarrier (and the other Legends-sized bots in Earthrise) become roadways to link up the larger bots. Sparkless Optimus Prime I’m here to make you feel as dead as I am. (Image: Hasbro) Want to relive the moment in your childhood where your favorite toy brand ripped out your heart and made you cry? Now you can with this redecoed Optimus Prime! Done all in grayscale with a cracked visor, this Optimus recaptures the moment of Optimus Prime’s death in Transformers: The Movie. There’s even a full-color Matrix of Leadership included to fumble and drop to the floor on its way to Ultra Magnus. If you like your deceased leaders a little more zombified, you can get a sweet set of stickers from Toyhax to turn him into his raging resurrected self from the episode “Dark Awakening.” G2 Megatron The tank that launched a thousand more (Image: Hasbro) Surprisingly, this limited-run Generations toy is currently available on Amazon for retail price and ships right now! Rather than yet another gray tank Megatron, this redeco sports a paint job inspired by his G2 green-and-purple camo. All it needs is a big MEGATRON! tampo on the front of the tank to complete the look. It’s nice to see this Megs finally get his due, since this version is what launched the whole “Megatron is a tank, not a gun” thing way back in the 90s. Rack & Ruin His own best friend (Image: Hasbro) Continuing to prove that Transformers: Cyberverse has some of the craziest ideas in modern Transformers toys, this Rack & Ruin figure is based on a character from the UK Marvel Transformers comics. Part of the Wreckers (kind of a Transformers Dirty Dozen), this bot was a conjoined twin in his original concept. That’s been simplified here to a two-headed bot with distinct personalities, but it’s still a crazy deep callback to one of Transformers’ odder concepts. Cyberverse Grimlock Me Grimlock no talk about alt mode! (Image: Hasbro) While we’re in Cyberverse, let’s take a closer like at this imposing lad of a Grimlock. Now, I’ll be honest, his T-Rex form is possibly the worst I’ve seen outside of G1 Pretenders Grimlock, but his robot form is magnificent. The head sculpt, especially, is a callback to the modern Dreamwave comics and is possibly one of my favorite reimaginings of the character. If you can forgive the truly awful T-Rex, this massive Grimlock is perfect to loom over your smaller-of-stature Cyberverse figures. Transformers: The Manga Vol 3 Because every good gift list needs a book, make sure you grab the final volume of the Transformers: The Manga series. Collecting the serialized manga from Japan’s TV Magazine, this volume covers the Victory and Battle Stars series with characters like Star Saber, Dezarus, and Super Megatron. It’s a peek into the insanity that was G1 Transformers in Japan, full of things like powered-up battle modes, finishing moves that only seem to work if you scream their names, and a set of young boys that fight on either side. (Why? Because Japan, that’s why.) If you’re looking to get the entire set, you’re in luck – Volume 1 and Volume 2 are also in stock and available to ship right now!
