There is no piece of pop culture media I’m more exciting about in 2019 than The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance (and, yes, that includes Star Wars). So it was a particular thrill this morning when Netflix released SEVERAL new still from the show AND a release date! And… Oh. My. Glob. Just LOOK at this!! All photos courtesy of Netflix and the Jim Henson Company The show will land on Netflix on August 30, 2019, and will include 10 hourlong episodes. Seriously, guys, we’re talking TEN HOURS of brand-new, gorgeous Dark Crystal. Set years before the events of Jim Henson’s iconic 1982 film, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance returns to the world of Thra and follows three Gelflings who discover the horrifying secret behind the Skeksis’ power and set out on an epic journey to ignite the fires of rebellion and save their world. Leading the voice cast are Taron Egerton, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Nathalie Emmanuel, as Rian, Brea, and Deet, three Gelfling heroes. Other Gelflings will be voiced by Caitriona Balfe, Helena Bonham Carter, Harris Dickinson, Natalie Dormer, Eddie Izzard, Theo James, Toby Jones, Shazad Latif, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Mark Strong, and Alicia Vikander. And what about your Skeksis and Mystics? You’ll hear versions of Harvey Fierstein, Mark Hamill, Ralph Ineson, Jason Isaacs, Keegan-Michael Key, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, Simon Pegg, and Andy Samberg. So it’s a veritable smorgasbord of the most well-respected actors working today. We still have a few months to wait, but in the meantime, check out our list of ways to fill the gap and make the waiting slightly less onerous. You Might Also Like...
