I got an unexpected surprise in the mail yesterday from Hasbro. For the Transformers’ 35th anniversary, the company sent out giant boxes absolutely bursting with figures. So what was inside? Let’s take a peek.

But First…

I’d be remiss if I didn’t give you a quick tour around the box itself. When Hasbro creates a mailer, they go all out, with packaging that’s as good as the figures inside.

Indeed, this is no exception, with an Autobot group shot on the outside of the sleeve. With Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Grimlock, Wheeljack, and Windblade sporting their “Evergreen” designs.

And a Decepticon group shot with Megatron, Shockwave, Soundwave, and Barricade on the box itself. These are so nice, they’re practically frameable.

Flipping around to the front of the box there’s the Autobot symbol and legendary slogan.

Yeah, That’s Pretty Much What Meets The Eye

So enough about the box art – what’s inside, you ask? Why, something from every major Transformers line currently on the shelf!

The Bumblebee movie is represented with not just an Energon Igniter Bumblebee figure but with the Studio Series Optimus Prime inspired by the movie. If you haven’t seen this figure yet, it’s one of the best G1-style Primes created outside of the Masterpiece figures.

Siege: War for Cybertron has a spot with Soundwave, Ravage, and Laserbeak – all from the wave currently in stores. If you haven’t found them yet, keep looking. They’re well worth the time and effort to track them down.

For the younger fans, there’s Optimus Prime and Grimlock from Transformers: Cyberverse. These may be simpler figures, but they do what figures from lines like Transformers: Animated did before them. They give kids exact 3D representations of the characters they see on the screen. And, honestly, this Grimlock is a ton of fun. I love his mech-ed out design.

Rounding out the haul are the always-welcome fun generators – BotBots. This Wave 2 assortment has a few bots that I haven’t been able to track down yet, so they’re more than welcome in my collection.

But Wait, There’s More

If you happened to catch us on Twitter yesterday, then you’ll know there was a little more in the box than just figures. Hidden behind a secret panel was a code written in Cybertronian. These have been popping up on Siege: War for Cybertron packaging since that line began.

A quick visit to Teletraan-1 to enter the code, I found out that it can be translated into “Rubble.” This won’t mean much to those who haven’t read the first issue of IDW’s new ongoing Transformers series.
