ShareTweet 0 Updated 12/2 with Wizards store URL I’ve got some good news and some bad news. You know that Transformers TCG SDCC preview pack from last year? The one with Slipstream and Cliffjumper that was just $17 at the show and is now over $200 at auction? Well, you’re finally going to be able to buy those cards without having to resort to paying eBay prices. You will, however, still be paying hundreds of dollars. What is Transformers TCG: Energon Edition? Before you generate an energon pitchfork and storm Wizards of the Coast, let me set your mind at ease. The Energon Edition is more than just two cards. Much more. This exclusive box set was created to commemorate the Transformers TCG‘s first year. It not only includes those two impossible-to-get characters but also four other rare and super-rare cards: Battlefield Legend Optimus Prime, Living Weapon Megatron, Legendary Warrior Bumblebee, and Dark Clone Nemesis Prime. That’s a lot of TCG goodness. (Image: Wizards of the Coast/Hasbro) Each of the cards will be printed on heavy plastic and be fully to semitransparent with foil accents. The Transformers TCG official Twitter account showed off how these cards look in hand. Suffice to say, they’re absolutely stunning. Here's a closer look at one of the actual Cliffjumper cards from the Wave One Energon Edition! The thick plastic is also semi-to-fully transparent and has gorgeous foil effects! pic.twitter.com/lcY9coLSO4 — Transformers TCG (@TransformersTCG) November 5, 2019 Also included in the box set are six battle cards getting the foil treatment for the first time: Agility of Bumblebee Bombing Run Cargo Trailer Fusion Cannon of Megatron Ion Blaster of Optimus Prime Start Your Engines There’ll be three copies in each box so you can immediately add them to your deck. Each booster box has exclusive line art. (Image: Wizards of the Coast/Hasbro) If that’s all Wizards included, it’d be a pretty sweet set. But you also get 30 Wave 1 booster packs (in case you need to try and fill some holes in your Wave 1 collection) and my favorite part: 18 Energon Dice. I’ve been using dice to track health for a while now, and having transparent blue dice that look like little Energon cubes will be a nice upgrade. Dice…one of my many weaknesses (Image: Wizards of the Coast/Hasbro) Speaking of, all the exclusive cards and the dice are contained in a large display box meant to look like an Energon cube! The six heavy plastic cards fit in the top for easy display. It’s the nicest card set I’ve seen since I’ve been playing collectible card games. It’s How Much? Wouldn’t you say my collection’s complete? (Image: Wizards of the Coast/Hasbro) Of course, all that beauty comes at a price. The Transformers TCG: Energon Edition will retail for $199. Sorry scalpers, your business is about to get ruined. (Image: Wizards of the Coast/Hasbro) A quick spin through eBay auctions shows that this is actually a considerable bargain. A sealed SDCC 2018 pack can cost nearly $300 and the super-rare Bumblebee and Nemesis Prime cards can command $50 each on average. So it’s a nice way to get those cards you’ve been missing in your collection for less and in a premium format. Where Can I Get It? You’ll be able to buy the Transformers TCG: Energon Edition box on Cyber(tron) Monday, December 2, at 12:00 PM PST directly from Wizards of the Coast. This will be a limited bundle and supplies will go fast. I’d recommend digitally camping out if you want a chance at this once-in-a-lifetime box set! You Might Also Like...
