A few months ago, we made the pilgrimage to Walt Disney World in Florida and just did So. Much. Stuff. We were there for 2 weeks (not in a park every day, thank goodness), and the kids (then age 2 and 4) had a blast. I know a lot of people have taken kids this age and been horribly disappointed or upset that their kids “just weren’t ready” or were too young. We didn’t find this at all. Zoey had already been to Disneyland in California and Tokyo Disneysea, so she knew the score. It was a first for Sam, but, at 2, I don’t think it could’ve been any better. So much of what he saw and did just thrilled him to the core. Since the point of this blog isn’t to be the first out of the gate, I don’t feel bad about going back and revisiting some of the highlight and lowlights of our experiences. First up: the Frozen Meet & Greet with Anna and Elsa at Epcot. We were there before the movie even opened, but the characters were already ubiquitous, and Zoey was already well acquainted with them. She was into the whole meet and greet scene big time (yes, she had her autograph book), and had to see as many as possible. Despite nobody having even seen the movie yet, the lines were still horrendously long. Anna and Elsa were in a dedicated corner of the gift shop opposite the Akershus Royal Banquet Hall. Not sure if they’re in the same place since it really reduced traffic flow through Norway. However, they did a good job of cutting off the line so it didn’t snake forever, but you still needed to be there well in advance. I think Mama Roarbot waited in line for about an hour while I took the kiddos on a few rides. True to form, though, all of the cast members made Zoey’s experience something to remember. They welcomed her (and her trusty polar bear) with literal open arms, made her feel completely special, and just about made her day. Plus, they gave her like five packs of Frozen trading cards. Were the cards worth the wait? Not remotely. However, seeing two of the most popular characters at once (even if they were relatively unknown at the time) certainly was. Zoey gave it an A+ and still talks about to this day, months later. If you find yourself at Epcot with a little girl (or boy who loves the characters), it’s well worth the investment in time.
