Welcome to Catan!

OK, maybe invade isn’t the right word. Catan isn’t supposed to be a violent game (although it can get oddly tense at the table if no one will trade you ore when you need it). Saying that we “trade wood for sheep” in Catan doesn’t have a great ring to it, though.

Settlers of Catan isn’t a new game. But sometimes it takes us a bit of time to get a game to the table. Catan is another new classic (much like Ticket To Ride) that has been on a constant rotation since we brought it out.

One thing we did, given the family dynamic, was introduce the kids to the game and mechanics through Catan Jr. It’s a very scaled down version that can serve as a primer to get younger kids engaged. That made the leap to Settlers of Catan that much easier.
