Elvi gets a glimpse of proto-world and saves everyone’s asses by getting Miller where he needs to be and returning physics to normal. Ashford hunts for Marco Inaros. Holden, Amos, Elvi, and Murtry are rescued by the Roci. Bobbie tries to save her crew from an ambush. Holden has a final conversation with Miller. Naomi calls in her favor from Fred. Nancy Gao wins the election and Avasarala is summoned to Luna to help with the transition; Arjun refuses to go with her. Marco throws some big rocks. Things I Loved Alex, when the fusion drives come back online: “Edward Israel, I have target locked your drive cone. You and me are about to have a very serious conversation.” Ashford: “Violence is indiscriminate. If you use it as a tool, it will not just kill your enemies.” Bobbie remembers people are more important than the law. She risks her own life to save Esai, just as she did when she protected Holden after the protomolecule invaded his brain. That’s our girl. Look, I love smart villains. Marco Inaros is a genocidal maniac, but I appreciate that he isn’t a cackling fool. He knows the science. He knows the tech. He’s a Doctor Doom as opposed to a Zemo, which makes for a much more interesting story. Holden letting Lucia go. Because he’s never met anyone he doesn’t want to save. This: Alex: “Hand looks good” Amos: “I’m going to test it out right now” cut to: Amos grinning while he beats the crap out of Murtry Avasarala’s message to Gao: “This isn’t a job I wanted… once I had it, it was hard to think of letting it go… this chair is not a throne. We’re not queens. The work we do here is critical, but it is not all that we are. Don’t forget the rest of yourself… your time will end too and you will want a life to return to once this is done. One of us is wrong. I think it’s you but I hope it’s me. Good luck. Our future is in your hands.” Things I Didn’t Like I just don’t see Ashford leaving those pliers floating around. He’s too careful, too meticulous, too observant. Season Wrap-Up At the end of every season of The Expanse, I think, “Well, that can’t possibly get any better.” And then the next season is, in fact, better. Season 4 continued that trend by being my favorite, and the most compelling, yet. I continue to believe being cancelled by SyFy was the best thing that could have happened to this brilliant, character-driven, hard sci-fi masterpiece. The Expanse finally has the budget, production support, and lack of language restrictions to really stretch and grow – to take up the space it deserves in the television world. Principal photography on Season 5 wrapped last week; no word on an air date yet, but we’ll let you know when we hear something. Same with the Season 6 renewal announcement I’m sure is coming. Taki taki for joining me this season, Screaming Firehawks! See you again soon. You Might Also Like...
