ShareTweet 0 Welcome to Harvey Street! Harvey Street Kids is the newest show in the runaway train that is the DreamWorks/Netflix collaboration. If you’re a somewhat regular listener, you know that we’ve covered this partnership before and have featured the creative teams behind Dinotrux, Dragons: Race to the Edge, and a couple episodes about Voltron: Legendary Defender. Brendan Hay, one of our guests this week, has even been on the podcast a few years ago when he was here to talk about Dawn of the Croods. Harvey Street Kids takes several of the classic Harvey Comics characters – notably Little Dot, Little Lotta, and Little Audrey – and reimagines them for 2018. It’s great fun and also great inspiration for kids to get outside and have their own adventures this summer. On this episode, we talk about Theofilopoulos’s history with Disney feature animation and Phineas and Ferb, how she made the transition to producing and showrunning (and what she brought with her), the directive they were given with these legacy characters, and how she and Hay brought the characters into the 21st century without losing the core of what makes them unique.
