Fathom Events has so much to offer the geek movie fan! Once regarded as the artsy company that brought the opera and ballet to movie theaters, Fathom has expanded exponentially and screens tons of awesome films for every type of fan. And November is no exception. So without further ado, here’s a look at the geeky films Fathom is bringing to a movie theater near you this month… The Godfather Part II “I know it was you, Fredo.” Next to The Empire Strikes Back, this is the best sequel ever made. Winner of the 1974 Academy Award for Best Picture, along with a slew of other awards, this is also the first time Al Pacino and Robert DeNiro costarred in the same film (even though they wouldn’t appear on screen together until 1995’s Heat). You’ve got a few chances to catch this one on the big screen, with showings on November 10, 12, and 13. But make time; it’s 3 1/2 hours long with a 5-minute intermission. Konosuba! Part of Crunchyroll Movie Night, this one actually has a rather lengthy title: Konosuba! – God’s Blessing on this Wonderful World!- Legend of Crimson. That’s quite a mouthful, but this anime event will feature special video commentary from the main voice actors of Konosuba. The Twilight Zone: A 60th Anniversary Celebration This 3-hour event on November 14 features six of the most critically acclaimed episodes from one of the best television series ever made. Fathom doesn’t list the episodes included, but from the trailer, it looks like it’ll be “Time Enough at Last,” “Eye of the Beholder,” “The Invaders,” “To Serve Man,” “The Monsters are Due on Maple Street,” and “Walking Distance.” So, a pretty solid lineup. Also included is an all-new documentary short titled “Remembering Rod Serling” about the life, imagination, and creativity of creator Serling. Princess Mononoke November’s installment in this year’s Ghibli Fest, 1997’s Princess Mononoke was probably the breakout hit that first exposed many Western audiences to Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli. Screenings will be on November 17 (dubbed), 18 (subbed), and 20 (dubbed). If you’d like to try your hand at a pair of free tickets, keep your eyes on the Roarbots! Fleabag This might seem like a strange one to include in a roundup of geek-friendly films, but come on! Phoebe Waller-Bridge is the voice of L3-37 in Solo: A Star Wars Story! And Fleabag is currently killing it as a BBC show (available on Amazon Prime here in the States). But Fleabag originally began on stage as a (crowdfunded!) one-woman show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. And it’s returned to New York and London stages in sold-out performances. This November 18 screening is from London’s National Theatre. Never Surrender: A Galaxy Quest Documentary And maybe saving the best for last (of November, at least), who among us doesn’t adore Galaxy Quest, the best Star Trek movie of all time? This behind-the-scenes look at how the film got made and its enduring cultlike status among fans promises to be all kinds of fantastic. It includes interviews with almost everyone involved in the original film, and I’m sure we’ll need a hankie or two when it comes to Alan Rickman. The November 26 screening will also feature a special video introduction and the premiere of the Galaxy Quest Honest Trailer by the ScreenJunkies team. You Might Also Like...
