Lego 76000: Arctic Batman™ vs Mr. Freeze™: Aquaman™ on Ice / DC Universe™ Superheroes Otherwise known as Attack of the Trademark Symbols. This was Zoey’s second set in the Superheroes line. It had been a while since we put together the first, so she had forgotten about the difficulty jump between these and the Friends and Disney Princess sets. The latter sets of comparable size and piece count are usually much easier to assemble. Still, she was up for the challenge. It has a white Batman, which–let’s be clear–is what really attracted her to the set. Aquaman and Mr. Freeze were really just bonuses. But, in my opinion, they’re all stellar minifigures, and I want to say that Aquaman is exclusive to this set. Specs: 198 pieces; 4 bags; 1 sticker sheet; 52 steps over 63 pages (1 book); bonus comic book; took the 5yo Roarbot about 90 minutes to assemble everything. I have to admit that I kind of convinced Zoey to choose this set. I had heard that it was about to retire, and I thought it too cool of a set to miss. (I’m still kicking myself for missing out on the Catwoman Catcycle City Chase.) Zoey was already set to pick a superhero set, and I think it came down to this one and maybe a Spider-Man set. The choice was a no-brainer for me. Batsub? How can anything compete with a Batsub? The first thing you assemble is Aquaman’s little ice prison. I have to admit; it’s pretty awesome. You put the minifig inside, press down on a little lever, and both sides fall away. Supply your own “crackity-pow” noise, and it doesn’t get much better. The Batsub is by far the most significant part of this set. It has the most pieces, and it’s the most time-consuming to assemble. Zoey needed to take a break about halfway through. The final build is almost entirely black and yellow–which is appropriately fitting for Batman. However, there’s a veritable rainbow hiding inside. That’s one of the interesting things about Lego. They’ll give you some beautiful pieces that will eventually hide inside the finished build and never be seen. Verdict? An awesome addition to our collection. Zoey loves the white Batman and Aquaman minifigs, the exploding ice prison, and that the Batsub has the ability to manually fire little discs from beneath each wing. I love the design of the Batsub itself. I don’t love the flimsiness of the two pieces that protrude off the front of the vehicle (they snap off far too easily), but that’s a minor gripe compared to this amazing set. Welcome Arctic Batman!
