Ehh…What’s up, Doc? Listen, if you’re ever owned a Moleskine journal, I don’t need to sell you on them. You know how awesome they are. And if you’ve ever owned a Moleskine journal, you probably never bought a different journal after that first one. It’s been Moleskine all the way down. Am I right? Of course I’m right. Hey, I say, hey, what’s the big idea, son? However, if all you’ve ever owned were the standard solid-black (or other color) journals, then…hoo boy, do I have news for you. The “basic” solid-color journals are grand, for sure. But lately, Moleskine has secured a few choice geeky licenses. How geeky? Well, we included their Transformers journals in our grad gift guide earlier this year. They’ve also done Avengers, Harry Potter, Super Mario Bros, and Astro Boy journals. And now they’ve got Looney Tunes. Yeah, you read that right. Looney. Freaking. Tunes. Sufferin’ Succotash! Listen, I’m not gonna lie to you. If Mel Blanc were still alive, THESE are the journals he’d be using to sketch out ideas for new voices and characters. If Wile E. Coyote were a real anthropomorphic canine, THESE are the journals he’d use to plot out his elaborate schemes and contraptions to catch that elusive road runner. (And if we’re being honest, these would also be the journals where he’d draft furious letters of complaint to the Acme Corporation.) Be vewy vewy quiet. I’m hunting wabbits. The journals come in a variety of designs. Two large notebooks (5″ x 8.25″, retail $24.95) feature Bugs Bunny and Wile E. Coyote, and two small notebooks (3.5″ x 5.5″, retail $19.95) feature Daffy Duck and the Tazmanian Devil. It’s only fitting that Daffy’s book is smaller than Bugs’s. After nearly 80 years of playing second fiddle to Bugs and getting outwitted at every turn, I would’ve expected nothing less. I tawt I saw a putty tat! The journals themselves are everything you should expect from Moleskine: hard cover binding with full-color graphics on the cover rounded corners elastic closure ribbon bookmark themed inside front and back covers ivory-colored 70g/m2 acid-free paper On top of all that, there’s a pocket on the inside back cover that contains a surprise sheet of Looney Tunes stickers! I’m not made of stone, people. The books are a joy to write on. They lay flat to make journaling (or note-taking or whatever) easy. And they’re a thrill just to hold. Seriously, the paper nerd in me gets a little tingle down the spine whenever I pick these bad boys up. Sue me. You’re dethpicable! Heading into the holiday season, the Looney Tunes themed Moleskine journals should absolutely be on your shopping list. Of course they’re a great stocking stuffer for any writers, journalers, poets, wanderers, or animation fans you might know. That goes without saying. I’ve literally traveled around the world with Moleskine and have a shelf of MANY books totally filled with my miniscule chicken scratch writing. (Honestly, my travel journals make me look like Kevin Spacey’s John Doe from Se7en. I own it, though.) Th-th-th-that’s all, folks! These journals come with our highest recommendation. I cannot wait to finish up the journal I’m currently in the middle of so I can add Bugs and Wile E. to my lineup of crazy-man journals. I’m too much of a Type-A to begin a new book without finishing the previous one, so they have to wait. But until that day, these glorious bundles of paper sit in a place of honor, anxiously awaiting my nonsensical thoughts and deepest, most personal feelings. To put it bluntly, I love the heck out of these books. And you will, too. (Disclosure: Moleskine provided us with review samples of these awesome journals. All opinions remain our own.)
