Playmobil: How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World

If you’ve seen our two previous round-ups of the Playmobil sets for Dreamworks’ Dragons, then you know we’re pretty big fans of both the franchise and these toys.

They’re INCREDIBLY well made and faithful to the designs you see in the How to Train Your Dragon films and on Netflix’s Dragons: Race to the Edge. Between the first two waves of sets, Playmobil has put out all of the major dragons: Toothless, Stormfly, Meatlug, Hookfang, Barf and Belch, and Thunderclaw. We’ve also see a huge playset for the island of Berk and a few other smaller playsets.

But this third wave of sets connects to the upcoming third film in the franchise: How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World!

If you’re a fan of the films, show, and franchise, the playability of these toys is endless. Obviously, the sets all combine together with the growing line of Playmobil Dragons sets. And they also work remarkably well with Playmobil’s other (non-licensed) sets, particularly with Knights and Pirates.

The quality and attention to detail here are staggering. So if you’re a fan of a particular dragon or character or want to just collect and display them, I wouldn’t blame you. I could see these things hanging from a bedroom ceiling in an EPIC mid-flight action scene.

Coolest Features:

As with the previous sets, the dragon sculpts are SPOT ON to the character designs. They’re incredibly well designed, and it’s hard to see how there can be cooler Dragons-inspired toys on the market.
The three baby dragons are adorable. You’ll want to buy these sets just to get them. Trust me. And each is different, which means there are at least three adorable baby night/light furies in the film!
Everyone’s favorite Night Fury, Toothless, is the same sculpt as the previous version, but it’s an entirely different paint job. AND even though he comes with the replacement tail fin that Hiccup made for him, he ALSO comes with a second, REAL tail fin. Might he somehow grow a new tail in the third movie?
The flight suits on the standalone figures are way cool, and their helmets are WICKED awesome. For my son, the helmets are cooler than the dragons.

Ease of Build:

On a scale of 1-5, all of these dragons are solid 1s. For the dragons, all you have to do is snap the wings onto the bodies. For the figures, just snap on their accessories. There’s not much more than that. Easy peasy.
