(previous interviews in this series can be found here.) Welcome to another installment of Questions From a Kid. Today, Zoey chats with author Tom Angleberger. To say that Zoey is a fan of his is a massive understatement. We first encountered the Origami Yoda books on a roadtrip. We had gone to the library to stock up on some audiobooks, and Zoey grabbed the first two books in the series: The Strange Case of Origami Yoda and Darth Paper Strikes Back. She was already a Star Wars fan, and she was really intrigued by the covers of each book. That turned out to be the easiest road trip ever. Both kids were riveted to the stories and barely spoke at all. Heaven. Since then, she’s acquired the other books in the series and listens to them all the time. You think I’m just exaggerating. But I’m not. Zoey falls asleep to audiobooks every night. Some kids like music. She like stories. She went through a Beverly Cleary phase. She went through a (prolonged) Star Wars radio dramatization phase. But her Origami Yoda phase has been the longest. At this point, she can recite huge chunks of the books by heart. So when the opportunity arose for her to actually sit down with the man himself and talk Star Wars…well, she literally jumped at the chance. (She’s 6. She jumps a lot.) As always, all questions are Zoey’s. I simply prompt her with “clue words” so she can remember. (Make sure you turn on subtitles if you can’t make out Zoey’s questions.) Thanks so much to Tom Angleberger for taking the time to chat with Zoey! You Might Also Like...
