ShareTweet 0 SkullSplitter Dice has been one of my favorite dice companies since the concept of “dice companies” was a thing (and it’s not just because they’re super local so I get my shipments fast or I happen to know the owner). I mean, not only do you get incredible dice, they send emails from their dwarven forge master as your order progresses through the system. Starting out with metal dice, SkullSplitter quickly expanded their offerings to include plastic polyhedrals of every color, shape, and size. They have just as many color varieties as Kraken Dice, but for less (though you don’t get the weird “D2” that Kraken insists is a thing, but really just ends up accumulating at the bottom of my dice bag). Computer algorithms have determined these are pleasing to your hu-man eyes. (Image: SkullSplitter Dice) And now they’re expanding their offerings with three new color combinations in their latest Kickstarter. The Valkyrie’s Sky (blue and white), Aether Breach (purple and white), and Forest Queen’s Radiance (green and white) are beautifully marbled dice, picked by AI to complement one another on the tabletop. (I would scoff here, but I’ve learned to never doubt SkullSplitter Dice’s founder, Ted Cory, in these matters.) Each set consists of one d4, four d6, one d8, one d10, one d%, one d12, and two d20. And they’re absolutely gorgeous. SkullSplitter Dice sent over a set of Valkyrie’s Sky for me to play with, and I can’t stop picking them up and rolling them. The gold ink complements the marbled color of the dice perfectly. Each dice set will be $15 and if you pledge at $60 or more, you’ll get additional dice in each set once they’re unlocked via stretch goals. But what if you don’t want dice (in which case… why are you reading this?) but you do like RPGs? There’s something for you too! SkullSplitter Dice has teamed up with three great RPG authors (with writing credentials from little companies you might have heard of like Wizards of the Coast) to offer exclusive D&D 5e compatible modules based on each dice set once the campaign is funded at $6,000. Lysa Chen will write a 3rd to 4th level module for Aether Breach. The Blackwood Society’s Matt Everhart will craft a 5th to 6th level adventure for Forest Queen’s Radiance. Rounding out the pack will be the 8th to 9th level Valkyrie’s Sky module by Brian Berg, creative director of Total Party Kill Games. You can get these modules by pledging $45 during the first 24 hours of the campaign for all three dice sets, or, if you just want the modules, pledging $1 during the first 24 hours! After that, you’ll need to pledge at the $60 level to get all stretch goals (including the adventure modules). I’ve had to hide them during conference calls so that I stop rolling them. (Thanks to Ted and the gang for sending over a set of dice to play with. Opinions are my own.) You Might Also Like...
