ShareTweet 0 DC Direct (yes they’ve changed their name back from DC Collectibles, rebooting themselves in a very DC fashion) dropped an email in my inbox on Thursday night with an absolute bonanza of new toys and statues. If you’re a DC fan, you’re going to want to lock up your wallet. This year is going to see the release of some amazing stuff. Batman the Adventures Continue Figures You’re not our real dad! Continuing the Batman the Adventures Continue (BTAC) line to include characters that were never a part of the original series might rankle some, but I love seeing how modern character designs are boiled down to the clean lines of BTAC. A few of figures were revealed previously, but Thomas Wayne, Talon (as yet unrevealed), Batgirl, and Tim Drake are new for Toy Fair. DC Cover Girls Statues Undeniably Cho The latest DC Cover Girls is based on the art of Frank Cho. While he can be somewhat…problematic on social, his skills as an artist are undeniable. If you’re a fan of Cho’s style, this will be a must-collect series. The Joker Clown Prince of Crime Statues Jim Lee left, Lee Bermejo center, Brian Bolland right This trio of Jokers is impressively varied, representing several aspects of the villain’s comic journey. Jim Lee’s exaggeratedly wacky Joker is eye-catching and Brian Bolland captures the iconic moment of Joker’s creation perfectly. What got me to sit up and take notice though was Lee Bermejo’s Joker. Solid and menacing, this is a Joker that haunts me in the same way that Heath Ledger’s Joker did. Justice League 6-Pack If you don’t know which is which, you’re reading the wrong column. If you’re looking for a current version of the core six, look no further. There’s a new Essentials Justice League six-pack containing Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, The Flash, and Green Lantern. Get them before their costumes change in the upcoming reboot! Batman Black and White Statues Freddie E. Williams III Batman left, Brian Bolland Batman center, Gotham by Gaslight by Mike Mignola right There are new Batman Black and White statues and this year we’re finally getting a Mike Mignola statue! His Gotham by Gaslight design is distinctly his, and I’m excited to see it in statue form. Brian Bolland and Freddie E. Williams III also have Bat-tues being revealed this weekend. Harley and Ivy Thematically different, but always linked. It wouldn’t be Toy Fair without some Harley Quinn and her amor, Poison Ivy. There are a ton of Red and Black statues that have already been revealed, but this latest by J. Scott Campbell has impressive character. I keep telling myself I’m not going to collect these, but this might be the statue that breaks me. The holiday-themed Poison Ivy from the DC Bombshells line is also showing up this weekend. Judging by the theme, we won’t be seeing this one till the fourth quarter of this year. There are a ton of additional toys that DC Direct is bringing to the show, so keep your eyes peeled!
