Who doesn’t love a good advent calendar? When I was a kid, we had cheap advent calendars where we’d open a little window to reveal a different tiny picture every day. Or we’d glue a cotton ball on a big picture of Santa every day to build his beard. They were low-key, low-maintenance, and low-expectation. But we LOVED them. It was such a fun tradition in the run-up to Christmas, and it was like getting a small present every day in December. Not surprisingly, advent calendars have come a LONG way since then. Kids today expect actual presents, and the toy companies are only too happy to oblige. The past few years, we’ve gotten one of the LEGO advent calendars, which was a fantastic way to start each day. Wake up, brush your teeth, and build a teeny LEGO set. This year, we decided to up our game. We have not one, not two, but THREE advent calendars keeping us occupied. First up is the LEGO Star Wars set. Every year, LEGO puts out a few different advent calendars. This year, they had Star Wars, Friends, and City. Star Wars is typically the most expensive (because it’s Star Wars), but you usually get at least one or two very cool exclusive minifigures. Next up is the Playmobil Santa’s Workshop calendar. Again, Playmobil now has a few different advent calendars (including Jewel Thief Police Operation, Royal Ice Skating Trip, and Horse Farm), but we opted to go the “traditional” route with a cool holiday theme. We also managed to get our hands on the elusive Funko Harry Potter advent calendar (thanks Grandma!). It’s by far the most expensive of the bunch, but you get 24 mini Funko Pops, so it’s actually something of a bargain. Finally, the good people at DreamWorks Animation sent us a DELICIOUS box of chocolates disguised as an advent calendar. Featuring 24 truffles from Moonstruck Chocolates, the box also highlights most of the company’s best-known characters (from their Netflix and Amazon shows). If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram, you may have seen some of our daily reveals already (and if you don’t follow, why don’t you go ahead and do that now). Without further ado, here’s the roundup of the first 12 days (the first half) of all of our amazing advent calendars…. You Might Also Like...
