GBBP Extra Episode 16: Gotham by Gaslight at DC in DC

0

Extra episode this week! Hot on the heels of our deluge of bonus episodes last week from the first DC in DC event, we’ve got one more surprise. That event kicked off with a premiere screening of Batman: Gotham by Gaslight, which is now out on Blu-ray, DVD, and digital. Before the screening, a big chunk of the cast and creative team behind the film did some roundtable interviews, and then we all had a chance to watch the film on the big screen at the Newseum.

For my full thoughts on the film, check out my spoiler-free review on Syfy Wire here. In short, it’s good and filled with a bunch of surprises, even for fans of the original graphic novel.

On this episode, we’re bringing you interviews with Bruce Greenwood (Bruce Wayne/Batman), Scott Patterson (James Gordon), Yuri Lowenthal (Harvey Dent), Bruce Timm (executive producer), and Jim Krieg (screenwriter). We’ve had Timm and Krieg on the show before when we brought you coverage of the film from last year’s New York Comic-Con (that episode also features director Sam Liu). For a full blast of Gotham by Gaslight, I highly recommend listening to both episodes and then immediately watching the film. But I’m biased.

I have to say that it was an absolute pleasure to sit beside and chat with Bruce Greenwood, as brief a time as it was. I’ve been a HUGE fan of his for a long time (I’m a big Nowhere Man fanboy), and I really hope we have him back as a solo guest sometime. He’s been on my “bucket list” of show guests from the very beginning.

Our conversations with Greenwood, Patterson, and Lowenthal are especially insightful as we talk about not only Batman and Star Trek but also deeper and more personal issues inherent to the creative pursuit.

Enjoy!
