Star Wars: The Last Jedi has become a polarizing film. Anytime I discuss it with other adults, there’s a range of how much someone liked it (from hatred to love). One thing is always consistent though – everyone’s feelings on it are pretty strong. People passionately feel something toward this movie. It’s just not a consistent thing among people.

Amazing. Every word of what you just said was wrong.

When I think about my reactions to the new Star Wars movies, ultimately I think about the reactions of my kids. I can’t imagine that my dad liked Star Wars: Return of the Jedi when it came out. Maybe he did, but… Ewoks. 10-year-old Adam, however, loved it.

Breathe. Just breathe. Now reach out. What do you see?

Thus, back to Star Wars: The Last Jedi. It may be that my reaction really doesn’t matter (it’s obvious that Lucasfilm certainly wasn’t marketing the movie toward me). The reactions of the kids, however, does. Did they like it? Did it capture the sense of awe and wonder in them that the original trilogy captured in me?
