The lightning triggered when Holden shoved his hand in something else for psychopomp Miller hits the camp. Tensions mount as the rest of the Belters find out Murtry murdered one of their number. Bobbie gets further entangled with drug dealers and smugglers to save her nephew’s future.

Things I Loved

When Amos asked Holden, “Do you want me to shoot Morty?” in totally rational and logical fashion. Because, to be honest, given the clearly impending disaster, it would be the rational and logical thing to do. This is our Murder Snuggles, and Wes Chatham does him justice every moment he’s on screen but some moments are extra special.

Elvi Okoye as the super science brain: faster and far, far smarter than any of the menfolk who are spending the majority of their time pointing guns at one another and setting Proto-people traps.

Amos’s beard has become a sentient character and it thanks you to respect its personhood.

Amos to Chandra after he walks up and claims some of the security force’s supplies and ends up in an altercation with the guy upon whose foot he dropped a very heavy crate: “Does that mean we’re not fucking anymore?”

Amos and Murtry’s conversation in the bar. The way Amos flips to using Murtry’s actual name when shit gets serious. Also, “I’m free right now.”

I was Proud When

Avasarala insisted on calling the colony plant Ilus while other Earthers insist on calling it New Terra. Not that Avasarala needs my approval.

Naomi told Murtry off.

Most Relatable Moment

Naomi giving herself meds and then going to help in the Belter camp even though it hurts like hell. As someone who lives with migraines and chronic neck pain from an injury, this is at least five days out of my week. You do what you have to do so you can live your life. It isn’t always the best way to go but sometimes, it’s the necessary way.

Serious Talk

Pay attention to the politics in this episode, folx. Avasarala’s family being wealthy… Nancy Gao jumping the line into higher education… veterans left to twist in the wind after being used by their country… “It’s all connected” not only within the story as we watch it unfold but also in out own lives, our own society. Yes, The Expanse has a futuristic setting but that doesn’t mean people aren’t people and it doesn’t mean we’ve evolved so far we’ve outgrown our baser instincts.
