GBBP 179: Kate Micucci

0

Life is like a hurricane! That’s right, faithful listeners. We’re back in Duckburg this week, talking to the one and only Webbigail Vanderquack, er…I mean, Kate Micucci! Kate is the voice of Webby on the relaunched DuckTales, which sports one of the most impressive casts in animation today. As an aside, if you can’t get enough DuckTales (and really, who can?), do yourself a favor and listen to our previous chat with DuckTales producers Matt Youngberg and Francisco Angones.

In addition to DuckTales, Micucci is also an accomplished comedian, actor, and musician. She’s the current voice of Velma in the Scoobyverse, she was Clayface in The LEGO Batman movie, she’s half of the amazing Garfunkel and Oates (with Riki Lindhome), and she’s been in countless other TV shows and films. But most of all? She’s a frontrunner for the most delightful guest we’ve ever had.

On this episode, we chat about DuckTales, how she auditioned to be a duck, stepping into the role made famous by Russi Taylor, how she parlayed a childhood dream to be a toy designer into an acting career, her musical career with Garfunkel and Oates, and why the world NEEDS a Webby/Velma team-up show.

The Emmy Award-nominated DuckTales airs daily on Disney Channel with premieres every Friday in May. New episodes and shorts will debut throughout the summer across Disney Channel, DisneyNOW, and Disney Channel YouTube.

(I do not own the musical excerpts used in this episode, obviously. All rights remain with their respective copyright holders.)
