GBBP 219: Michael Moreci

0

This week, Michael Moreci joins me for a fantastic conversation about all things geeky. Moreci is the author of Black Star Renegades (which I really dug when it came out and reviewed here) and its sequel We Are Mayhem, which just came out last month. In a nutshell, the story dares to ask the age-old question: “What would happen if Star Wars and Guardians of the Galaxy had a love child?” And oh boy, is it a fun ride.

But Moreci is also a seasoned comic book writer, having written for pretty much every major publisher: DC, Archie, Image, Vault, Dynamite, Dark Horse, Boom!, IDW, and Disney-Hyperion.

His current series with Vault – Wasted Space – recently got extended to 25 issues, and he also just signed a long-term, multi-project deal with Vault. Part of that agreement includes adapting a full-cast audio dramatization of Wasted Space!

And his graphic novel adaptation of Eoin Colfer’s Artemis Fowl literally just landed in my mailbox today. So that’s brand spankin’ new will perfectly fill that Artemis Fowl-sized hole in your life now that the film has been pushed back to May 2020.

If you’re interested in checking out the article I mention that Moreci and I did together for StarWars.com (“When Should You Introduce Your Kids to Star Wars?”), you can do that right here.

On this episode, we chat about turning your passion into a career, his two novels with St. Martin’s Press, writing comics versus novels, Battlestar Galactica, and of course Star Wars.

You can listen on iTunes, Google Play, Spotify, TuneIn, Stitcher, and YouTube; you can follow the RSS feed; or you can listen right here!
