ShareTweet 0 Wyrmwood Gaming is back with a new Kickstarter that’s sure to appeal to fans of their Tabletop Tiles. They’re revisiting one of their earliest campaigns, modernizing the design, and making it fit (literally) with their most recent Kickstarter. What Is It? Two configurations to choose from (Image: Anthony Karcz) Hero Vault 2.0 hearkens back to one of Wyrmwood’s earliest campaigns. The Hero Vault was a square, wooden container, lined with foam, with just enough room for your dice and minis. But, well, it had issues. It wasn’t quite deep enough for dynamic or large minis and dice. Even worse, the magnetic top could be dislodged if it was bumped. Take a look at this GIF from Wyrmwood to see: 1.0 vs. 2.0 (Image: Wyrmwood Gaming) The Hero Vault 2.0 fixes that. It’s larger, deeper, and most importantly has an interior lip that keeps the lid in place. Hero Vault 2.0 in Kingwood (Image: Anthony Karcz) By benefit of the shape alone, Hero Vault 2.0 has more interior space. Its hexagonal shape fits perfectly with your Tabletop Tiles. It also has a thumb grip, so it’s easier to open the vault without spilling its contents all over. Hero Vault 2.0 in Madagascar Ebony (Image: Anthony Karcz) If you don’t need mini storage, you can also get a dice interior instead. It’s foam-lined and specially segmented to hold a full set of gaming dice (with the d20 right in the center, of course). If you go with a dice interior, it’a a little shorter than the mini interior option. Think of it as a stealthy Dice Vault 2.0 launch. Monsters, Maps, and Gaia, Oh My Mistress of Maps (Image: Wyrmwood Gaming) The Mistress of Maps, Deven Rue is back for Hero Vault 2.0, bringing her fantasy topography with three unique designs: Vendras Oasis, Ifiron Marshes, and Wallerfen Desert. If you were lucky enough to nab one of her designs in last year’s Bespoke Dice Tower Kickstarter, you know how perfect her maps look when etched into wood. Monsters of Wyrmwood (Image: Wyrmwood Gaming) Joining Deven Rue this time is Crystal Sully with three unique designs for the Maker of Monsters tier. You can select Katalox, the Corrupted; Hoarding Horror; or the Hull Buster Kraken. Each design is impressively eye-catching. I know that I’ve already decided on a Katalox vault. Even better, when you get a Hero Vault at this tier, you’ll get a creature bestiary sheet to include them in your game. Gaia Tier (Image: Wyrmwood Gaming) While both Map and Monster etchings add a premium to your Hero Vault pledge, there’s one tier that puts them to shame. For a $500 pledge, you can get a Gaia Hero Vault. Made of Figured Myrtle, each sports a unique inlay made of a variety of woods, depicting a blooming flower. Unlike the etchings, each design will be different, handcrafted by Wyrmwood’s marquetry specialist. It’s a high price to pay, but you’ll get a vault like no other. What About the Woods? Kingwood, right, Madagascar Ebony, left (Image: Anthony Karcz) As with all of Wyrmwood Gaming’s Kickstarter campaigns, Tabletop Tiles will be offered in a variety of domestic and exotic hardwoods. One glance at the page will give you all the info you need on what will look best on your table. The exotics get expensive fast, but they’re amazing centerpieces. If you’re feeling lucky and can’t decide on a wood, you can also Roll the Dice, which will give you a random mid-to-upper tier wood, including a very small number of $500 Gaia Tier vaults! For $45, it’s a fun option that gives you a chance for some of Wyrmwood’s rarest materials but without the premium. Where Can I Pledge? You can get your pledge in right now on the Hero Vault 2.0 Kickstarter page. There are a number of options and the type of wood you select will have a big impact on the final price, but vaults start at $25 for oak or hickory and start going up from there. Usually, this is where I’d mention that Kickstarter is not a storefront and that you should always keep that in mind when pledging in a crowdfunding campaign. However, Wyrmwood has a U.S.-based production facility and is already churning out tiles. They have a well-proven track record when it comes to Kickstarter and have been one of the great success stories for the site. Plus, they’re just all-around great people. If they say they’re going to deliver in a certain timeframe, it’s almost a guarantee that they will. Head over and pledge early so you can get all the updates on Wyrmwood Gaming’s “march to all things being hexagonal.” (Thanks to Wyrmwood Gaming for providing a set of vaults to review. Opinions are my own.) You Might Also Like...
