Ships Ahoy!

For our special 4th of July episode, Jiminy Crickets brings you a tribute to one of the most patriotic and historical places in the Disney parks, the Rivers of America!

First, we explore the original river in Disneyland, including the history of its many features and attractions. While cruising the river aboard many of the unique vessels that ply these waterways, we encounter the sights and sounds found along the river’s edge and shoreline of Tom Sawyer Island, all through authentic original soundtrack audio direct from Disneyland.

Next, we learn about the many other later versions of the Rivers of America, found in Florida, Japan, and France.

So journey with us now, just as our hearty pioneers did, to the days of “wooden ships and iron men.” Toot Toot!!!

Chris Lyndon
Chris Lyndon grew up in Southern California, near Disneyland. He formed a lifelong fascination with all things Disney from a very early age, especially Disney music, and has studied the history of the Walt Disney organization for decades. His very first summer job was at Disneyland at age 16, and he also worked at the Florida parks during his college years as part of the Walt Disney World College Internship Program. His lifelong passion for Disney music has evolved into his website, DisneyChris.com. All manner of Disney music can be enjoyed there including the Disney Song of the Day, but the main focus is audio from the original Disneyland theme park in a collection he calls the "Disneyland Magical Audio Tour," with over 1650 audio tracks, full color imagery and historical information for every track posted. Chris also provided archival Disneyland audio for the September 2015 PBS Walt Disney American Experience documentary. In December 2015 he began his very own weekly podcast covering all things Disney, called "Jiminy Crickets!" Since then the show has evolved into two podcasts and he shares the stage with his amazing co-host Ruthie Brown. Currently, the original "Jiminy Crickets!" is a monthly show, presenting various Disney topics of historical significance, and there is also a new bi-weekly Disney news program called "Dateline Jiminy Crickets," which is a audio/visual program presented on the DisneyChrisDotCom YouTube Channel.
